When you open Mixed Messages, you are presented with the full famous quote whose words form the pool of loose words, a literary or historical attribution, and four distinct clues. This word pool is your complete lexicon; every target answer must be constructed strictly from these available tiles.
Unlike a traditional acrostic or cryptogram, you aren't unscrambling a famous line. With the complete quote displayed in order upfront, your goal is to use its words to build four entirely new, unrelated sentences guided by four distinct clues—and solving all four completes the puzzle.

The four clues are ranked by difficulty, from yellow for the easiest to purple for the hardest. Starting with the yellow clue is the fastest way into a puzzle.
Is Mixed Messages like Wordle?
Only in shape. Both are one short puzzle a day that you can finish in a few minutes and then argue about with someone. The solving is different. Wordle is deduction against a hidden answer, and Mixed Messages is construction from a set of words you can already see, which puts it closer to a cryptic crossword than to a guessing game.
Can I reuse words across multiple answers?
